Discover 29 New Game Cards from Magic's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Expansion (Featuring a Commander-Style Deck!)

The world's beloved pizza-loving heroes are arriving to Magic: The Gathering. The popular trading card game's publisher, the game's creators, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion during a exclusive event hosted at NYCC. Could this be a radical addition or yet another Universes Beyond cash grab? Let you be the judge.

Check out below at all the details revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, along with key context. All items listed here launches on March 6, 2026, except for one item — the Pizza Bundle arrives a few weeks later on March 27th.

Magic x TMNT: Core Set Cards

Before we get into all the various special decks and bundles available, let’s take a look at all the cards from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by the developers. Play boosters for the set are set at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per booster.

Let's unpack a couple of surprising features. First, there's a new mechanic named Sneak Attack, which is a riff on the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, where players can cheat big creatures into the game field when an attacker goes unblocked. The big difference in this case is that this new ability can affect non-creature spells too. The designers also used this chance to clean up the mechanic a little (It counts as playing a spell, as opposed to the older mechanic). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but chances are we'll see Sneak in upcoming expansions moving forward.

“If we ever go back to the Kamigawa plane, we might use the original ability since that plane is it was developed and it’s a hallmark of that world,” an experienced game designer explained. “But on other planes, because the rules are cleaner and Sneak will be in standard, it's more likely that we'd use the updated version.”

That second variant of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai card, is among four special cards with special art created exclusively for the set by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman.

Additionally, if you're shocked by the rules text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play cards outside of your deck, many players were. Yet as per the developers, it’s now a official card in every format of Magic.

Anyway, here are the highly unusual land cards with full art from the TMNT set:

As per the company’s existing guidelines, all these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard play. The designers state they were careful to ensure the new cards and gameplay elements meshed well with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.

“I led the design for over a year and we were aware it would be in standard and which sets would be near it in standard,” a lead designer commented. “Our goal was to make sure that they work well with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”

As an instance, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a blue-red archetype focused on artifacts.

“They mesh together to provide the components for a enjoyable Standard-legal deck,” the designer says.

Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!

After declining to design any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, Wizards is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it includes six distinct legendary creatures who could work as your Commander depending on how you combine them (five of the cards have a special Partner mechanic called “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command area instead of only one). Take a look below:

The Turtle Power deck is priced at $69.99, although the price may rise based on popularity. Sources told that it includes 43 new cards altogether, which means an additional 37 TMNT-themed cards in addition to the six legendary commanders pictured above. (Calculating roughly, this suggests approximately 20 reprints if we assume the deck comes with 37 land cards.)

What will the Turtles version of Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Standard Bundle (Standard Edition)

Typically, Wizards is offering a bundle. It costs $69.99 and includes the listed items:

  • 15 Foil land cards
  • 15 Regular land cards
  • Two helper cards

Pizza Bundle

This is a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, primarily because it comes in a box resembling a pizza box. Each pizza-themed bundle costs $99.99 and includes the items below:

  • 9 Standard Boosters
  • 1 Collector Booster
  • Twenty-five Regular pizza lands
  • 5 Traditional foil pizza-themed lands
  • 2 Foil pizza bundle promotional cards
  • 2 helper cards
  • 1 Large spindown life counter
  • One Card-storage box

For those curious what a “pizza bundle promo” is, it’s essentially a reprinted older card with all-new Turtle-themed artwork. Wizards revealed one for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of master Splinter adding black licorice pieces onto a pizza. There are six distinct pizza promos available.

The Pizza Bundle launches a couple of weeks later than the core set on March 27, 2026.

  • 1 Draft insert (a one-sheet instruction sheet to drafting the set)

Cooperative Play Set

Lastly, Wizards are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its ongoing effort to develop Magic products specifically for beginners. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of prebuilt decks that allow two players team up to face a “Boss” enemy deck that pilots itself.

The general idea is that every Boss card grants special abilities to the creatures included in the boss deck. The Boss automatically plays one other card each turn, and players begin battling {one Boss|
